Belinda is a wife, mother, and educator who finds joy in navigating the highs and lows of parenthood alongside her husband of twelve years, Loman. Together, they are deeply committed to causes close to their hearts, particularly the well-being of children, the impoverished, and the elderly in Liberia. The Martins are also passionate about community outreach through their church and various faith-based initiatives. Professionally, Belinda serves as an Assistant Principal at Chattanooga Christian School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She has spent the past seven years in school administration, following a career as an English teacher, Yearbook Advisor, and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Instructional Coach at Signal Mountain Middle/High School. Belinda is currently in the final stages of earning her Ph.D. in Learning and Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her research focuses on the impact of trauma-informed self-care practices on compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout among educators.

Statement:

I chose to serve on the Board of Students for Change because I witness the incredible potential of the next generation every day. They are deeply passionate about the issues that matter and have both the drive and the resources to lead meaningful change. While they may occasionally need guidance, more often than not, they simply need us to step aside and let them lead. Extracurricular organizations were a lifeline for me in both high school and college, providing connection, purpose, and growth. I’m excited to support an organization that is committed to creating more opportunities for students—not only to engage with their campuses, but also to drive sustainable, impactful change in their communities.
